durationThe duration attribute specifies the total time between the first and last frames of an animated map. It is an integer value specified in seconds. The duration determines how far back old frames are maintained in a animation sequence that is automatically refreshed with new data. |
Supporting TagsThe duration attribute is supported by the <pulse> tag. By default, animated maps have a duration of 3600 seconds (1 hour). |
Examples<map> <pulse rate="60" duration="21600"/> <!-- Animated map over a six hour period. --> </map> |
NotesThe primary purpose of the duration attribute is to determine when to drop old frames as new ones arrive. For example, an animated map might be created with 2 hours worth of data but a duration of 6 hours. As new frames arrive, the old frames will be kept until the map is animating over an entire 6 hours. After that, old frames will drop off the front the series as new ones are added to the back. |
