proximityThe proximity attribute establishes the minimum distance between sites to be allowed when applying progressive disclosure. It is an integer value specified in screen pixels. This serves as a mechanism for controlling visual clutter in a map. As the scale increases, the pixel distance between sites increases, so more sites are displayed. |
Supporting TagsThe proximity attribute is supported by the <disclosure> tag. By default, the visibility of individual sites within a map product is not dependent on their proximity to one another. |
Examples<site> <data network="Oklahoma Mesonet"/> <disclosure proximity="10"/> </site> <observation> <data network="Oklahoma Mesonet" src="latest.mdf" param="TAIR" units="fahr"/> <disclosure proximity="30"/> </observation> |
NotesProximity criteria are applied to sites in the order that they appear in the data. If two sites are within the specified distance of one another, the first site in the data will be the one displayed. Proximity values should always be greater than zero. The behavior of the software with zero or negative proximity is undefined. Future implementations will likely generate an error condition. |
